The workshop started with basic instruction at Weidner's taught by Jim and Lea Bathgate and Ben Pierce of the Rare Fruit Growers and then a trip to Evelyn's to practice. (BTW, the North county branch meets the third Friday evening of the month at Mira Costa College and drop in visitors are always welcome. http://www.rsfgardenclub.org)

almost completed graftAfter the basic instruction everyone traveled over to Evelyn's home. That big overgrown apricot in her backyard was brought down to size for easy picking and multiple grafts of Early Girl Apricot were grafted on. Evelyn grafted a Santa Barbara peach onto her unnamed peach. Everyone thought it was well worth the time!

Yes, they talked about avocados too.

Everyone went home with Scions of their own. These will hold easily in the refrigerator until you are ready to graft onto your tree.
