Spring/Summer Season 2008
Here is your Opening
Letter
Everything you need to know.
Weidners' Gardens is Open Again
Anything New? ....Yes!
We've been making changes!
A
Stream Make Over How our improvements look right
now
A new water feature with a waterfall and a small pond. Right there by the
bridge that goes up into the fuchsia area. We put a big 18" pipe
underneath to handle the huge amounts of water that comes when it rains.
The stream used to
have water all summer long but lately it just looked ugly. This should be a big
improvement.
Here it is at the second step You'll have to come in to see it finished. Pond
and Waterfall by Armando of Aqua Terra
It is finished, now as of Wednesday...but just barely!
Here our area painted but still a long way from finished.
New! A brand new place for Demonstrations &
Work shops.
For our workshops and classes. This is also for your Garden Club,
Photography group, Church group, any kind of group that loves flowers and wants
to have an interesting tour or meeting.
You're going to love it. Groups of over 15 can choose to have a free 15 minute
demonstration. There will be space for coffee/ refreshments or a picnic
lunch.
details on how your group can come, the demonstration topics.
Because this has turned into such a bright and beautiful area we are going to
add a new House Plant section too.
When you come it will all look really good.
New plant to most of
you.....Introducing Ginni,
That's Peperomia Ginni
The Ideal house guest and she is pretty too!
This is the ultimate low water/low care house plant. She is so easy and low
care, you'll want her everywhere.
In your kitchen window, on your coffee table...in the bath, on the patio table
or hanging anywhere.
New for us!
Three really nice Cordyline plants. Cordylines are also
called Hawaiian Ti plants.
So often when we are making combination planters we need that taller background
plant. Cordylines fill that spot so well. The other nice thing is that they are
also spectacular all alone, so when the other plants in the combo have finished
you simply let the Cordyline grow on and be big striking specimen on its own.
What else is ready for you if you come in March or April
Cyclamen...It is still a great time to
use cyclamen and we've got a super special on them. Check out the coupons.
Cyclamen bloom outdoors until mid summer...and re-grow again in the fall.
Fuchsias A good supply of 4
Inch, 6 inch upright types, 10" gorgeous Hanging Baskets.
Trees and
Tubs should be ready by Mother's Day. The 4" are perfect for you to make
your own Baskets or combinations.

Earliest Impatiens...ready now. Here is a New
guinea in a new electric rose color.
Easter is early this year, March 23rd
Easter planted combinations will be ready with lots of plants in bright spring colors, Hydrangeas and other blooming plants.
Freesias....in bloom and ready for
you. So fragrant. Enjoy in pots or in your garden. They multiply and
bloom each year. and are perfect spring colors.
Hydrangeas --- They are ready now and will
keep coming over the next several months.

Hydrangeas make a wonderful large plant in a combo pot and then afterwards when
the blooms are over you can plant them in garden. They will bloom every year in
early summer with masses of blooms.
Begonias, of course! We'll have earliest Non-Stop
Varieties ready by the end of March.
Begonia Digging in the field usually begins sometime in May. Depends on the weather!
First Solenia Begonias ought to be ready for Easter. Solenia Begonias are so versatile. Take shade or light sun. These types of Begonias do not want huge amounts of water. Of course Begonia Dragon Wings Begonias will be back.
Family News. This is probably only interesting
if you are regular customers of Weidners. Any one else that reads this is
either very curious, bored or extremely anxious for friends of any kind.
Where did Evelyn go on her trip this year? South American Chile and Argentina
on a fabulous cruise?
Sorry!! she was booked to go, instead she twisted
really hard getting out of a chair, tore her right Hamstring muscle and went
straight to bed rest. Very painful. She is now just fine.
Of course, she now limps on both the left and the right sides. That should even
out to no limp at all but somehow that isn't how it works. Of well. Could have
been worse!
Mary's husband, Rich, retires from the Orange County Fire Authority end of
March. He is looking forward to not doing that long commute to Orange county
but he'll miss the excitement and challenges of 42 years of being a
Firefighter. [he started at a very young age!]
He jokes that we will be training him in the art of
'Sleeving' plants and taking directions from two women!! What a
change! He usually gives the directions! Picture from last years vacation in
the Canadian Rockies.
Of course, he wants to take off on more vacations so that means Mary will be taking some extra times off this summer. A trip to Alaska in July is already booked.
Enter Ryan Doughty, our
grower who also has past retail experience. You'll be seeing more of him out
front. He is very creative and fun to work with. You'll like him. I'm already
worrying that you'll like him better than me.

These plants are perfectly grown show plants' & large specially
