We are open from March 1 through Labor Day for our spring/summer season and from November 1 to December 22. HOurs are from 9 am to 5 pm in spring summer. during the winter season we change to an earlier closing time of 4:30 so we can go home while it is still light.
If you want to visit us in person, here are the driving directions to get you right to our door. Before you start out---ask yourself these two questions. Is today a Tuesday? If the answer is Yes, don't come because we are closed on Tuesdays. Is this month January or February, After LaborDay in September or even October. If the answer is yes--don't come because we are closed to the public during those months. Evelyn and Mary are probably traveling or home lying by the pool and reading a good book.
Handy Hint: We are on the east side of the Freeway [That's the side away from the beach] You can actually see our nursery sign from the freeway.
We are alongside the Interstate 5 freeway, also known as the San Diego
Freeway, in the small beach town of Encinitas, California. We are 30 minutes
north of the city of San Diego. Take the 5 freeway to the Leucadia Blvd exit.
We are on the east side on a small frontage road named Piraeus St. Piraeus only
goes between Leucadia and La Costa exits. The nursery is at the corner of
Normandy Rd and Piraeus. 695 Normandy Rd. Encinitas, CA 92024
760-436-2194, 9:30 to 5:00 p.m. Always closed on Tuesdays.
Winter hours are 9:30 to 4:30 ...because it gets dark earlier.
The times of year that we are open to the public are: March 1 to Labor
Day That's what we call our spring/summer season.
November 1 to December 22. Dig Your Own Pansies, Poinsettias, Cyclamen and
other plants that bloom in the winter. We do close on Thanksgiving. All the
other Holidays of the seasons we stay open.
If you come by earlier in the morning than 9:30, walk up the parking area to
the top driveway and if that is open come on in and start to shop. There is
usually some one there who can take your money. You can come in that way for
the Good Stuff Fertilizer any time. That is considered an essential for
plant life and we always keep some on hand.
You may also use the La Costa Blvd Exits if that is
easier. If you come from the north, make exit toward the left. Be sure to get
over to the right as soon as you can because you will make a right turn onto
Piraeus at the last light in overpass group. Go south on Piraeus exactly
one mile to Normandy. Turn left and park.
It's a little tricky getting back onto the freeway. Ask before you leave or
just wander around and you'll get there.
Every month Weidners changes. In early March and April Fuchsias and early
blooming color are the stars, later on the Begonia field takes center stage.
Any time you come you see a fantastic Show Garden of flowers in bloom
everywhere. March 1 through Labor Day.
November 1 to December 22 for poinsettias, cyclamen and .'Dig Your Own'
Pansies. Come any day but Tuesdays, (we're closed on Tuesdays). In the
mid-winter season we close at 4:30 p.m. (It gets dark earlier!)
A bit of information about our phones. We have what's known as a 3 line roll-over system. If any of the numbers are busy then it rolls to the next number. We can only put answering messages on the first two numbers, so if they are both busy then all you get is ringing and hopefully some one in the wholesale office to answer the phone. On weekends the wholesale office is closed so you are out of luck. Try again in a few minutes and you will usually get through. Why don't we get one of those modern 'take a number' phone systems? Money and a rather intense dislike for that smarmy voice that tells me my call is important and then leads me from one number to the next and I never find a live person. So there!!!
Thank you,
Evelyn Weidner
