'I Can Grow It' Children's Corner
Do you want to get your child started with gardening but have lots of reasons you don't think you can?
We've got projects to do right at Weidner's that will work for any child. Do the project at Weidner's with our supplies which makes it fun and easy then take it home.
- Decorate an inexpensive pot and plant it with a FREE Pansy. Nor matter your age or artistic abilities you can decorate your pot with materials we supply. Paste on the flowers or paint your own creation.
- Sweet pea Teepee Pot. Plant the seeds and make the teepee frame. Take it home and watch it grow into fragrant sweet pea flowers. (Or leave it with us and we'll get it started then you can come back and pick it up.)
Still not sure? Has everything you tried to grow died or never sprouted so you worry you'll take the project home and it won't grow? The first time, leave the project with us to get it started and come back to pick it up.
Don't have space? Make the project part of our Children's Corner with your child's name marking the project so it's there to come and visit whenever you want.
Why a children's Corner?
From Evelyn: my trip this year was a return to my childhood home in Three Rivers, California with Betz and my childhood friend, Barbara. We spent a warm summer afternoon in our favorite swimming hole; lazily paddling around and reminiscing about our childhood and how we got through the tough times of the 1930's and 1940's by our togetherness.
We'll get through these tough economic times the same way! Many of you are like my big extended family. I love the hugs and family news exchanges.
Family activities that bring us together and don't cost huge amounts of money are even more special right now. So, we're going to make Family Gardening our theme this year. Family in the big sense of the word...Grandparents, parents, singles and just friends of your family. We want you to feel like Weidner's Gardens is your gardening family.
Family Gardening should be fun and easy for everyone and it begins November 1st with NEW children's 'I Can Grow It' Corner.
